Three options for studying

You can study Pre-sessional English at ÒÁÈËÖ±²¥app for up to 16 weeks and start your course at three different points across the academic year.

  • There are options for 16-week, 10-week, and 6-week courses.
  • If you start your degree programme in late September, you will complete your Pre-sessional English course in early September.

Final assessment

All assessments before the last six weeks are formative and designed to help you learn and develop your academic language and skills.

At the end of the final 6-week modules, you will complete written-language coursework assignments as well as speaking, reading, and listening assessments.

How do I progress onto my degree?

Pre-sessional students with a degree offer at the ÒÁÈËÖ±²¥app can progress onto their destination degree programmes by achieving the required Pre-sessional Pass Mark.

  • Check your offer letter for the English language requirements for your degree at the ÒÁÈËÖ±²¥app.

  • If your English language requirements are 6.5 (overall) with 6.0 or below, you need to achieve the Pre-sessional English Pass Mark (Standard). This means by the end of  the Pre-sessional English programme, you will need a minimum of 6.0 (overall) with 5.5 in any one sub skill (ÒÁÈËÖ±²¥app, Listening, Writing, and Speaking).

  • If your English language requirements are 7.0 overall with 6.0 or above, you need to achieve the Pre-sessional English Pass Mark (Higher). This means by the end of the Pre-sessional English programme, you will need a minimum of 6.5 (overall) with 6.0 in any one sub skill (ÒÁÈËÖ±²¥app, Listening, Writing, and Speaking).

Pre-sessional students with a degree offer from another university can progress onto their destination degree programmes by achieving the English language requirements as set in their offer letters.

Please note that if you are progressing to another university, it is your responsibility to check whether that university accepts our Pre-sessional English programme.
